What is laser hair removal? A laser is a specific beam of light that has the ability to permanently disable and reduce unwanted body hair. The laser can also be used for facial hair removal.

How is laser hair removal performed? The laser hair removal process is performed when a simple cooling tip comes in contact with the surface of your skin before delivering a high speed of light.

Do specific lasers treat specific skin types? Yes. Find out which laser or light source a particular laser hair removal clinic uses. Is this laser the best one for your specific hair type (light, dark, fine, coarse, etc.) and your skin color? There are currently five different types of lasers in use for laser hair removal: ruby, alexandrite, diode and Nd:YAG, Intense Pulse Light. One laser type does not treat all skin types.

What does the permanent hair reduction process feel like? First there is a cool feeling from the contact of the light source tip and then there may be a slight tingling sensation from the light itself. Most patients tolerate the procedure well. But some areas of the body are more sensitive than others. Topical anesthesia is always available, but typically not necessary.

How many sessions will I need for permanent hair reduction? Since the laser tends to affect hair follicles that are in the active growth phase, a series of sessions are generally required to disable the hair follicles.

How long is each laser hair removal session? Depending on the amount of hair and the size of the area being treated, the sessions can vary from a few minutes to an hour or more.
